Lahinch Reserve in Preston has recently been upgraded with new plantings , play equipment and imaginative play areas with logs and rocks. Local artists Nick Hackett, Mary Hackett and Lindy de Wijn collaborated on a small project involving the community. Nadia Combe, the landscape architect from City of Darebin was the project manager for the park upgrade. A community day was organised where the public made small clay objects on the understanding that some of those would be chosen to be remade in forged steel. Mary and Lindy provided guidance on what could be reasonably achieved in steel while Nadia organised a coffee cart and sausage sizzle.
